Good question!
We recommend that you cover your barbecue to protect it from harsh weather conditions. Our barbecues are suitable for outdoor use and can withstand rain and even Canadian winters.
The Napoleon Group of Companies manufactures products in North America (Ontario, Canada, and Kentucky, USA). Some products are also manufactured in our overseas Napoleon overseas manufacturing facility. The overseas manufacturing facility is not a third-party manufacturing center. It is owned and operated by Napoleon. The designs and the manufacturing and quality control processes are all provided and strictly managed by our operations center in Ontario, Canada.
The text on the operating bar is printed directly on the stainless steel. With proper care, it will remain dark and legible. Only use warm soapy water to carefully wipe away dirt and stains. Do not use abrasive cleaners on stainless steel surfaces, especially not on the printed area of the control bar. If you clean this area with an abrasive cleaner, the print will come off.
Using a soft cloth, apply vegetable shortening, coconut oil or other oil suitable for high temperatures to the entire surface of the grill, making sure to cover all grooves and corners. Do not use salted fats such as butter or margarine. Preheat your grill for 15 minutes and place the greased grill rack in the grill. Turn the burner control knobs to medium with the hood closed. Allow the grill rack to heat up for approx. 30 minutes. Turn all burners to the "OFF" position and turn off the gas source. Allow the grill rack to cool down. This procedure should be repeated several times during the barbecue season. However, it is not necessary for daily use.
Yes, this is possible. Depending on the burner configuration of your burners, we recommend applying the heat to one side of the food. Place a small grease drip tray directly under the food and cover it with any liquid to prevent flare-ups.
The indirect grilling method is perfect for grilling, roasting, baking or smoking and is a good way to exploit the full potential of your Napoleon barbecue. With this grilling method, the food is placed over the unlit burner(s) and therefore not directly over the flame. With the indirect heat, the food is cooked like in an oven and hardly needs to be turned. You can place the food directly on the grid or in a grill pan. On models with three burners, place the food directly on the middle grill rack and switch off the middle burner so that only the left or right burners give off heat. For models with two burners, place the food on the left grill rack and switch off the left burner so that only the right burner emits heat. Use a similar method for models with four burners. If the temperature of the grill is still too high, you can switch off more burners to reduce the heat.
Due to the intense heat of the infrared burner, most drops of fat and pieces of food burn off immediately when they come into contact with the burner surface. If residue does accumulate, you will need to clean your infrared burner. To clean an infrared burner inside your grill that is located under the hood, wait until the grill has cooled down completely. Remove the grill grates above the infrared burner and use a soft brush - e.g. a paintbrush - to remove any residue. Replace the grill grates and set the infrared burner to the "high" setting. Leave the infrared burner on the "high" setting for 5 to 10 minutes with the hood closed. This will also burn off the last residues. Before cleaning the infrared SIZZLE ZONE™ side burner, make sure that it has cooled down completely. Lift the cover of the burner and check it for residues. If there is any residue, remove it from the ceramic element with a soft brush or paintbrush. You can then clean the base of the infrared burner and remove any residue. Check the grease drip tray under the side shelf for grease and residue. You will need to repeat this process regularly as it is a shallower tray than the main drip tray in the grill. Replace the grill rack in the lower position and set the burner to the "high" setting. Leave the hood open and the burner running for 5 minutes to burn off any remaining residue. Remember to keep the hood closed over the Infrared SIZZLE ZONE™ when not in use to prolong its life. NOTE: Use a very soft brush to remove residue from the ceramic burner as it is very delicate. More abrasive or harder brushes can damage the fragile ceramic.
